Latest Release

Reluctant Partners, a June 2008 release from Harlequin American Romance,  is the first book in a trilogy, Second Sons, set in Port Clara, Texas.

Cooper Remington's legacy came with strings attached.  Her name's Allie Bateman, and she claims she's the owner of the Dragonfly, the charter fishing boat Cooper inherited from his uncle.  He isn't about to let himself be swindled out of his inheritance ... even if Allie is the most alluring first mate ever to hit the high seas!

But Allie also believes she's about to be swindled.  She can't believe it when she agrees to be temporary partners with the sexy East Coast lawyer.  She knows better than to trust him.  But why is her heart telling her she and Cooper would make a great team--on the water and off?

Reluctant Partners got a 4-1/2 stars Top Pick from Romantic Times.

2. WHERE'S KARA?

I'm honored to be giving a workshop at the Romance Writers of America National Conference in San Francisco.  The workshop title is A PLACE TO HANG YOUR SCENES: Three-Act Structure for Novelists.  The date is Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008.  If you're planning to attend the conference, I would love to see you.

 3. MY WRITING ...

Currently I'm working on some minor revisions for THE GOOD FATHER, the third book in the SECOND SONS trilogy.  It's scheduled for April 2009.

When I'm done with that, it's back to one final polish on the serial killer book, which I've been revising for what seems like years!  But I'm actually hoping to send it in soon to two editors who have requested it.

4. FINAL THOUGHTS

The Fourth of July is fast approaching.  In the U.S., that means picnics and fireworks with family and friends to celebrate America's independence.  But just how independent are we?  Increasingly we're dealing with global issues and a global economy.  For some, the Fourth stands for freedom from tyranny, and I'm all over that.  But why don't we put as much energy into celebrating the things we (we Earthlings) have in common, rather than our distinctions, our "independence"?

So on this uniquely American holiday, by all means celebrate.  But every day, celebrate this amazing planet we live on with its richly diverse and fascinating inhabitants.

Thanks for reading!  I love to hear from my readers, and I answer each and every e-mail I receive.   You can click here to e-mail me.
