About Kara Lennox
Kara Lennox, who also writes as Karen Leabo, has written
50-plus contemporary romance novels for two
major publishers: Harlequin Enterprises, the largest publisher of
romance in the world, and Bantam Dell (Loveswept line). Since her
first novel was released in 1989, her books frequently appear on
romance bestseller lists. They have been translated into 17
languages and published in twenty-plus countries around the
world, with over four million books in print. Four more releases
are scheduled for 2007.
Kara's books have been nominated for
major romance industry awards as well, including the National
Readers' Choice Awards and the Holt Medallion. She won a Romantic Times Reviewers' Choice
for best Harlequin American Romance in 2003. She has also been a finalist in the
Romantic Suspense category of the RITA competition, the Romance
Writers of America's prestigious peer award.
In the world of screenwriting, Kara
has written ten feature screenplays, three of which have been
optioned. Her scripts have enjoyed some degree of success in
various contests such as the Austin Screenplay Competition, the
Chesterfield Writers' Project, and Scr(i)pt Magazine's Open Door
contests (finalist).
Also a freelance magazine writer, Kara
has hundreds of articles to her credit. She has contributed to
major publications such as Working Woman, as well as numerous
national and international trade journals. Her clients have
included Hallmark Cards and Marion Merrill Dow Laboratories. She
was the senior writer for Kansas City Magazine, where she wrote
articles on travel, dining out, health, finance, and lifestyle.
Kara is an active and visible member
of numerous writing organizations including Romance Writers of America
and
Dallas Area Romance Authors. She attends many writing
conferences, where she is much in demand as a speaker.
As an actress, Kara appeared in several episodes
of "Walker, Texas Ranger" and did one memorable turn as
a zombie in a low budget horror movie. She has also been
on crew for several short films, including the award-winning
"The Secret Life of Shopping Carts."
The author lives in Texas with her husband
and assorted pets. She enjoys travel, roaming through flea
markets for hidden treasure, books, bicycling (including
four cross-country trips in recent years), walking, hiking, treasure hunting, birdwatching, mosaics,
popcorn, and napping.
